Hello MSTC Members, I do hope you have been enjoying this summer of 2019 with it’s roller coaster weather and like me dodging the rain and getting in as much outdoor tennis as possible.

The board of MSTC met last night and we have decided to switch our website to a new provider. It is called Wild Apricot. This is the website that is being used by Sitzmark Ski Club. Their webmaster Sally Hed Dahlquist will be working with our communications Director, Meredith Burks to make this transition for us. When completed this is what we think this website will do for us. This will be a central site where we can send and receive messages, update our personal information, receive information on current events, sign up and pre-pay for events, keep our membership current with renewal reminders and renew our membership on-line if we prefer. We also think this website will attract more tennis players to our events. This is a website that is designed specifically for clubs like ours. We are excited and hope you will be pleased with what it can do for you.

In addition I want to let you know three fine individuals have agreed to join the board. Cathy Hedberg will be our new Treasurer. Ron Saver has agreed to serve as Vice President and Arnie Wicker has also agreed to join the board (his specific position has yet to be determined). For now these are board appointees and you will be able to give them the thumbs up vote in October at our annual “election”. You will be hearing more about these individual’s contributions in the next newsletter which will bring you an update on the Labor Day Picnic, our indoor tennis schedule, the website switch, etc. Stay tuned and don’t ever hesitate to contact me.

Shall we talk about Memorial Day?  Where did all that rain come from anyway? Michael Schneider saved the day with his back-up plan for spending some time at LifeTime’s Crosstown. Our court time was limited but the food was plentiful! Thanks to the 40 some people – members and not who came out to brighten the dreary day. The day before Memorial Day (Sunday) was such a beautiful day, many remarked how lovely if we could have just played at Aquila that day instead of Monday. That idea sent me running to talk to Jim Lombardi, Recreation Supervisor at St. Louis Park. Our July 4 event is right around the corner and we all want to enjoy the full benefit of spending the day playing tennis and socializing at Aquila. So the result of that contact is that we have, as always, the courts scheduled from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on the 4th of July; however we also have a better back-up plan. If Thursday, July 4 is a complete rain-out, our event will be cancelled that day and we have the courts reserved at Aquila on Saturday, July 6 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. So I will be marking my calendar for both July 4 and July 6 and will be watching both the weather and the emails to know when and where to be for our July event.  If you have any questions regarding this plan, please give me a call.

I have another reason for you to give me a call as well, it appears we will be in need of a few new board members as some of our current members are stepping down to take care of necessary personal business. Who is out there that would love to help and be a part of an active board, adding to that board some new ideas and enthusiasm and wiliness to help. I would love to chat with you and hear what you have in mind.
